Design thinking
With the movement trainer, we at BALIMO have developed a product that gives sitting a new dimension. With the patented 360° ball joint, we have taken advantage of a very simple fact. Constant movement stimulates blood circulation and nourishes the muscle cells. The constant balancing of the BALIMO seat thus transforms everyday sitting into an effective workout that strengthens the body's mobility, posture, concentration and nervous system.
Strengthens even deep-seated back muscles
The "autochthonous" muscles responsible for an ergonomically correct, upright posture lie deep below the outer back muscles. The special thing about them is that they cannot be controlled voluntarily, but only unconsciously. They react to stimulation, such as a movable seat surface, to which they automatically respond in a compensating and balancing way. The BALIMO® effectively activates, trains and strengthens these autochthonous muscles. This helps to prevent poor posture in the musculoskeletal system, restricted mobility and frequent back pain.
The mind behind the BALIMO® - Eckart Meyners
Eckart Meyners never intended to build a chair. But he needed an aid for the movement theory he had developed for riding. And so the BALIMO® was born.
Until then, riding theory had been regarded as the theory of movement for horses, but did not include the theory of movement for humans. E. Meyners, on the other hand, wanted to make the diversity of human movement learning clear to riders, trainers and judges and developed the idea of a stool with a movable seat. With the BALIMO® movement trainer, he can get to the root of the rider's movement problems and lead him to an independent and harmonious dialog with the horse.
Olympic champion enthusiastic about Balimo®
2008 Olympic dressage champion Heike Kemmer knows what she is talking about when it comes to horses and riders. Then as now, she is constantly striving to optimize her seat in the saddle in terms of balance, coordination and flexibility. Because a correct, relaxed and balanced seat is the only way to ensure correct aids and a symbiosis with the horse. That is why she, like many other professionals, recommends movement training with the BALIMO® to break up old patterns through new movement stimuli, release blockages, make relevant muscles usable for the body again and improve coordination.
What can the BALIMO® do?
The special feature of the BALIMO movement trainer is that it is able to stimulate the deep-seated back muscles and create a natural posture. The joint of the BALIMO®, which is embedded in the seat plate, is a direct extension of the spine. It enables it to rotate within its own structure and move laterally in all directions because the torque is within the body. This prevents blockages in the sacroiliac joint and restores mobility. In addition, the movable seat surface of the BALIMO® stimulates the acupuncture points at the ischial tuberosities and stabilizes the autochthonous pelvic floor muscles. The variety of movement options, as well as the regular loading and unloading, can keep both the intervertebral discs and the vertebral bodies flexible.
Balimo in comparison
It's all about the point in order to be able to move as naturally as possible when seated. The point of movement of the seat should therefore be as close as possible to the body's natural point of movement - the pelvis. This is the only way to ensure that the pelvis can move as if suspended from the spine, straight to the center of the body. If the chair moves far away from the pelvis, the spine makes a bend in the balancing movement - which literally detracts from the effect, as can be seen here in comparison.
