7 The most frequently asked questions
and answers around the Balimo®
Which BALIMO® model is the ideal seating partner for me?
Basically, you can select the models according to their appearance, as the seats with the freely movable joints are the same on all models. For exercises that sometimes push the limits of the seat's tilting ability, the models without castors are better suited to prevent "rolling away" during certain exercises.
What exactly does the extended right of return mean and can I try out the BALIMO®?
The test sitting takes place at your premises - at the place where the BALIMO® is to be used. To give our customers throughout Germany, Austria and Switzerland the opportunity to get an impression of our BALIMO®, we send all models with a 42-day right of return - i.e. a free trial period
We believe that a motion chair needs to be tried out in daily use and that a short test sitting in a store is not enough to find out whether the chair suits you. Our philosophy that the chair's point of movement must be as close as possible to the body's natural point of movement - the pelvis - results in a special sitting sensation. This sitting sensation can be quite strenuous at the beginning of use, but it quickly proves to be effective and the body provides feedback. And it is precisely for this important effect that you need to try the BALIMO® for more than a few minutes in the store.
Do the rollers on the BALIMO® ROLL pose a danger?
The BALIMO® seat is completely free to move, you cannot place a letter on the seat without causing it to tip over - that is intentional! This is why the castors on the BALIMO® ROLL model lock as soon as you sit down on the chair. The castors' stop function eliminates the risk of the chair rolling away when the seat is tilted. The castors are load-dependent braked and lock completely from 62.5 kg (12.5 kg/castor).
To roll the chair into a different position, you need to lift your buttocks briefly. The castors are therefore only used for easier positioning in the room if you have both hands full and want to roll the chair to the side or bring it into the correct position with your foot.
How do the castors and backrest of the BALIMO® OFFICE work?
The BALIMO® OFFICE is the only model that can also be used when seated - the classic situation at the desk when you want to roll from the PC to the fax machine, telephone or chocolate drawer.
This is possible with this model as we use a larger base and also have a backrest that provides safety when rolling. You will need to practice rolling the chair a little, as the seat wants to tilt when you swing it, but you can compensate for this with body tension. The OFFICE model cannot be used without the backrest - it can only be removed halfway and the lower part of the backrest (the tube into which the smaller tube of the backrest leads for height adjustment) would always remain attached to the chair.
Can I replace the castors on the BALIMO® or replace them with floor glides?
The chair crosses of the ROLL and OFFICE models have standardized mounts for the castors. All commercially available chair castors and floor glides with 11×22 mm bolts can be used. They are easy to change without tools. This allows you to convert the models to a fixed base in just a few simple steps. You can find floor glides and chair castors in our store under "Accessories".
