Sitting in motion - for a strong back
We sit for up to 14 hours a day. Imagine what would happen if you could strengthen your body during this long period of time. This is exactly the approach of the BALIMO® movement trainer. Because BALIMO® is based on the idea of sitting in motion. The patented technology ensures that the center of the body and the pelvis are constantly balanced, thus promoting blood circulation and dynamic muscle work while sitting.
With its 360° movable seat, the BALIMO® also encourages an active, upright posture that relieves the spine and strengthens the muscles. The interplay of tension and relaxation of the muscles when training with the BALIMO® during everyday sitting is also important to prevent muscular complaints. Overall, the BALIMO promotes balance and awareness of posture, leading to a better body awareness. Try it out for yourself.

The BALIMO principle - the patent for sitting in motion
It all comes down to the point - Because sitting is considered to be extremely harmful to our health and sitting motionless on rigid surfaces was not actually intended by nature. But sitting on the BALIMO® is completely different! The patented ball-and-socket joint has the optimum distance to the spine and enables three-dimensional, dynamic sitting. The body thus benefits from the positive effects on health and well-being - from head to toe.
Strengthen the muscles that cannot be consciously controlled with the BALIMO.
The muscles responsible for upright posture lie deep below the outer back muscles and are referred to as "autochtonic". The special thing about them is that they cannot be controlled voluntarily, but only unconsciously. They are activated - almost automatically - when sitting on a moving surface, for example. The problem is that prolonged, frequent sitting on commercially available seating furniture means that the autochthonous muscles are not challenged and atrophy. As a result, we react with poor posture, for example, which leads to restricted mobility and often back pain. Thanks to its patented design, the BALIMO® is able to specifically address and train the autochthonous muscles. The minimal distance between the ball joint (movement point) and the spine enables natural movement - as if you were walking while sitting. The upholstered seat surface also stimulates the deeper back muscles, as the pressure on the ischial tuberosities activates the muscles like an acupuncture point.
Train the autochthonous muscles

The BALIMO works where others cannot reach
The name BALIMO® comes from BALance In MOtion. The chair was developed with the aim of loosening the lower spine and training coordinated movements in the lumbar region. Thanks to its patented 360° point joint integrated into the seat, BALIMO® enables three-dimensional movements that we have forgotten by sitting on conventional furniture. The spine straightens naturally, muscular imbalances are eliminated in a playful way and new movement patterns are activated. The natural, completely free movement while sitting reactivates this natural ability to move.

Strengthens even deep-seated back muscles
The "autochthonous" muscles responsible for an ergonomically correct, upright posture lie deep under the outer back muscles and cannot be consciously controlled.
They respond to stimulation, such as a movable seat surface, to which they automatically react in a balancing and equalizing way. The BALIMO® effectively trains and strengthens these muscles.
The spine straightens automatically
The three-dimensional joint of the BALIMO® movement trainer anchored in the seat surface is a direct extension of the spine and automatically forces you to sit up straight, as the seat surface would otherwise tilt away.
This improves the muscles, especially in the back, and mobility. The body straightens naturally, tension and blockages are released and the pelvis can move more smoothly.

Increases concentration and activates the nervous system
The constant movement on the BALIMO® stimulates blood circulation and supplies the body with oxygen. This increases the ability to concentrate and stimulates the depth-sensitive receptors in the tendons and muscle attachments. These then send messages to the brain about the position of the body in space via the supplying nerve tracts. The brain has to evaluate this information and sends corresponding nerve impulses back to the muscles via the outgoing nerve pathways. The BALIMO® therefore not only increases concentration but also activates the entire nervous system.
Optimizes cross-coordination
The BALIMO® enables three-dimensional movement of the pelvis in all directions while seated. The seat surface can be tilted by 20° and simultaneously rotated in all directions. This creates so-called crossover movements of the extremities, i.e. movements that cross the midline of the body, which activate the two cerebral hemispheres. The muscles react with adequate tension and thus ensure the posture of the body. These dynamic, criss-crossing movements train balance reactions.

Trains the pelvic floor
The BALIMO® creates a variety of movement transfers from the pelvis upwards and downwards, which makes the fasciae, the body's connective tissue system, flexible again. This is because the monotonous movements of everyday life tend to cause them to stick together and lose their high level of sensitivity. Fasciae have a three-dimensional structure and are formed by
the three-dimensional movements on the movement trainer are constantly stimulated. The BALIMO® can also maintain the elasticity, resilience and regenerative capacity of the fasciae. The lumbar fascia in particular, which also includes the pelvic floor, is supported in its functionality by the variety of movements on the BALIMO®.
